How does an implant work?
A dental implant basically takes the place of a single missing tooth. Dr. Lippi will permanently place a titanium post into your jawbone, which takes the place of your tooth’s root. Then, a dental crown is placed on top of the implant. The final product will look just like your natural teeth. Plus, you will never be able to feel the difference between the implant and your other teeth.
How long does a dental implant procedure take?
From start to finish, a dental implant procedure generally consists of two appointments. The first appointment is when we place the implant. Then, after the jawbone has had time to heal, usually about 3-6 months, you return for another visit in which we place a dental crown on the implant to complete the process.
What type of care is involved with a dental implant?
Just like your natural teeth, a dental implant needs to be brushed and flossed daily. Plus, when you have your teeth cleaned, the hygienist cleans around your dental implant too. With good oral hygiene habits, your dental implant should last a lifetime.
